For those who are not going - like me.

A few of us are wanting to have a burn type party sometime late August/early Sept.

Where, and when, shall we have a F**KOFF cool party for burners at
home?

Auck, Welly, Chch - or where? Tokoroa outdoors on our OWN 'playa'?

Wink

There's a lot of us not going this year. Probably enough to make a really good party.

I vote for..

Ah fuckit. I vote for wherever it is. You know I'll be there.

Outdoors! Let's get snowed on! Play dust storms? I laugh in the general direction of your playa dust storms!

Seeings as we'll be not going to BM right in the middle of the snowboarding season, I propose we have our very own "Melting Man" at any convenient mountain between Auckland and Wellington.

Seeing as this will be the hemispherical opposite of Burning Man, activities will include:

making a big man out of snow, then sitting around waiting for him to melt;
staying awake all day long, sleeping all night;
washing on a regular basis;
watching the sun set whilst completely sober;
buying things;
paying good money for other people to cook us food.

Who's in?

Melting Man!

I like it!

I vote for Queenstown as I'll be down there anyway at the time of BM.

Yes yes yes.

Hmmm.. it looks like me, Dr Windy, maybe happyinmotion and (big maybe) wildilocks might be down in Chch around late August.

So we could do a burner thing in Christchurch-ish. (Arthur's Pass?)

Most of you already know what I am thunkin, and while I'm not going to 100% put myself in as definite, I can see the point of having a big partay at the same time as BM, I could make it and I really want to go snowboarding in August anyways, so combining a trip with a big partay would be good! I love the suggestions regarding Melting Man and I think it could be a ton of fun combining Fire and Snow! Smile))

I've put the word out for our local visionaries, Briar and Amba, to start thinking about this.

Kathy is suggesting a party here at our house.
Some more thoughts/ dates.

As far as burning stuff goes, not sure how much time I will have to
find a place, get a permit, build a thing, as I am in the states till
8 August. But perhaps it is doable.

Burning stuff within Chch boundaries is definitely not allowed, but small discrete fires are doable.

On 31 August (friday night) there is a monthly Christchurch full moon
fire and drumming at the beach.

So that's:

-around same time as USA burn
-fire spinners and drummers and people who are ripe for the kiwiburn magic
-a place where we can burn stuff at least in moderation
-full moon

On the other hand, that is when xhile is probably in Invercargill?

Still thinking...

Bruce Smile

For those who want to know, Melting Man is outdoors at Castle Hill (1.5 hours from Chch) or possibly in Chch itself on

Monday night, August 27.

We'll try to remember to post exact location here, but if you want to come, best to let us know here.

At least 10 committed burners will be partying and burning a snow man, that night.

Melting Man was a tremendous success. Thanks to everyone for making it so!
