Description

Center Camp

Center Camp at Kiwiburn serves a similar function to Center Camp at Burning Man - a stage, generator and amplifier will be available for people to display their skills, be they dj's, musicians, cultural groups, poets or stand up comics. If you would like to schedule a performance or have any questions for Center Camp coordinators, please send email to centercamp@kiwiburn.com.

The Green Fairy

The Green Fairy returns once again to the Paddock. Visit Kiwiburn's premiere black light lounge for a jazzy downtempo ambience, and of course our signature libation. (always looking for guest DJs)

B Movie Camp
- Twisted Toons Edition

Short films and animations to blow your mind. We're pleased to present the return of B Movie Camp, this time as the Twisted Toons Edition. As Kiwiburn's resident movie theatre, we'll be showing a random collection of short films, music videos and animations, none of which will be longer than 10 minutes. Some shorts are suitable for children, others might need a little bit of an explanation. But then, some shorts might not be suitable for adults, either!

Band Camp

For those about to rock, we salivate you. We will rock you. And maybe folk you too. And dub you, punk you, metal you, pop you and orchestrate you. We want to hear from bands, solo singer-songwriters, and people who want to bring an instrument for our jam sessions in Centre Camp. Full bands who contact us before November get priority place in our nighttime concerts. Some gear will be provided - small PA, mixing desk, stage, lighting, shelter. Email jon.helix (at) gmail dotcom to enquire. This is a sound camp, but plans to close at midnight.

Balrogs Playpen

You all know what a Balrog is, well, it had babies... the babies have to learn how to use that fire whip some how, and Kiwiburn is just the place for that. Fire-dancers (balrog babies) unite here with fire-poi, staffs, devil stix, whips, skipping ropes, rope darts... etc... At night we will wow you with our flames, during the day we will show you how it's done without fire... We'll make our papa Balrog proud. Child friendly in the daytime, not so much at night.

THE ARK

Saving you from the Flood. Relaxing space to chill out in the day, take refuge from the madness in the night...or pass out on your way back from The Green Fairy. Come in one by one or two by two.. we will rescue you from the flood and we will satisfy you with our cookies. Child friendly, more so in the daytime.

KIWIBURN KOSTUME KORNER/WEARABLE ARTS FASHION HOUSE

The Kostume Korner is coming back and will be bigger and badder than ever. We are merging with the Wearable Arts Fashion House and will have our own location up near the gate. We aim to make everyone paddock-fabulous. Come find and/or make a costume. Clothing, fabric, sewing machine, and lots of decorations will be available to anyone and everyone. Get your costume ready for the Fashion Show on Friday afternoon and the Wearable Arts Parade on Saturday night!NOTE: This camp is looking for help and donations from the community. All shiny, glittery, glowy, furry, funky, and outrageous clothing items (hats, shirts, shorts, pants, slippers, PJ's, coats) and fabric contributions are welcome. Help us create the best fashion house on the paddock!
NOTE: We want folks to bring clothes/fabric to contribute. Any clothing that would be suitable for the Fashion Police to carry in their utility belts and hand out to unsuspecting Fashion Code Violators, will be gratefully accepted.

SHAMBALA aka HEALER CAMP

Venue for kiwiburners to heal and be healed. Shambala aka Healer camp will provide a venue for yoga instructors, masseuses, meditation leaders or anyone that has a healing to gift to the kiwiburn community. The physical structure will be a bamboo pyramid clad with sheets or similar size pieces of fabric decorated by members of the community. CHAOS AND CALM

Warped deep ocean bassline rollers, stormy staccato rhythms. A nightly lineup of producers and DJs take you deep underwater on a trip of pshycoacoustic mayhem. Bass heavy sonic landscapes, distorted, tweaked and twisted (and sometimes calm and pleasant). Contributions are welcome from DJs, producers, video artists, anyone who loves the calm and the chaos of the ocean, and would love to represent this through music or video.

THE SKULLFUCK EMPIRE

Looking forward to 2009 and big things are on the horizon. The mighty Skullfuck Empire has emerged triumphant from the flaming ashes of Trailer Trash/JAFAB/Skullfuck. The glorious rule of the One Empire has begun, encompassing in most honorable union the members and resources of all. United under this hallowed banner we are one in our blessed aim, to be the biggest party on the paddock.Vae victis!
